Answer» Correct Answer - C According to NCERT, plants absorb iron mostly in the form of ferric `(Fe^(3+))` ions. However, plants in acidic soil can absorb iron in ferrous `(Fe^(2+))` as well as ferric `(Fe^(3+))` form. It is an important constituent of proteins involved in the transfer of electrons like ferredoxin and cytochromes. It is reversibly oxidised from `Fe^(2+)` to `Fe^(3+)` during electron transfor. It activates catalase enzyme. It is essential for the formation of chlorophyll. |
