In the figure PA, PB and RS are the three tangents to the circle. Prove that the perimeter of ΔPRS is the sum of the lengths PA and PB.

PA = PB (Tangents from an outside point are equal)

RA = RT

ST = SB

Perimeter of ΔPRS = PR + RS + PS

= PR + (RT + ST) + PS 

= (PR + RA) + (SB + PS) 

(Since RT = RA, ST= SB) 

= PA + PB
