1.

In a two-stroke Petrol engine, fuel loss is maximum after :(a) Opening the exhaust port(b) Closing the exhaust port(c) Opening the inlet port(d) Closing the inlet port

Answer»

(a) Opening the exhaust port

With engines working on Otto cycle, a part of fresh mixture is lost as it escapes through the exhaust port during scavenging. This increase the fuel comsumption and reduces the thermal efficiency.

If the fuel is supplied to the cylinder after the exhaust ports are closed, there will be no loss of fuel.
