If the selling price of 16 watches is equal to the cost price of 17 watches find the gain percent

Answer»

SOLUTION

GIVEN

The selling PRICE of 16 WATCHES is equal to the cost price of 17 watches

TO DETERMINE

The gain percentage

EVALUATION

Let price of each watch = x

So cost price = 16x

Selling price = 17x

Gain amount = 17x - 16x = x

So the required gain percentage

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{x}{16x}  \times 100 \:  \%}

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{100}{16}   \:  \%}

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{25}{4}   \:  \%}

\displaystyle \sf{ =  6\frac{1}{4}   \:  \%}
