if a point D divides line segment AB of length 10 cm internally in the ratio 2:3 then find the length of AD |
|
Answer» strong>According to the Question, Let Point D divides the line SEGMENT AB of length 10 cm such that
Their sum of length should be 10 cm. So, AD + DB = AB ⇒ 2x + 3x = 10 ⇒ 5x = 10 cm ⇒ x = 10 ÷ 5 cm ⇒ x = 2 cm We know that AD = 2x Substitute the value of x to find the length of AD → AD = 2(2) → AD = 4 cmNow, for finding DB; We can EITHER SUBTRACT AD length from 10 cm or substitute the value of x in '3x' In both the methods we get DB as 6 cm. ∴ DB = 10 cm |
