IF 500 ml of a 5M solution is diluted in 1500 ml what will be the molarity of the solution obtained?

Answer»

Given:

Molarity of the solution (M1) = 5 M

Volume of the Solution (V1) = 500 ML

Volume of the Solution (V2) = 1500 ml

To Find:

Molarity of solution 2

Formula used to find the answer:

M1V1 = M2V2

Substituting the VALUES KNOWN to us in this formula we GET:

(5) (500) = (1500) M2

2500 = 1500(M2)

M2 = 2500 / 1500

M2 = 1.66 M

Therefore, 1.66 is the molarity of the solution obtained if 500 ml of a 5 M solution is diluted in 1500 ml.
