1.

If 2x + 4y = 8 and 4x + 2y =10, find the value of x + y

Answer» ONG>Answer:

∴2x + 4y = 8 -----(1.)

∴4x + 2y =10 -----(2.)

From (1.) we get ,

∴2x + 4y = 8

∴2x=8-4y

X=8-4y/2

∴x=4-2y -----(3.)

Substituting the value of x in (2.) ,

∴4x + 2y =10

∴4(4-2y)+2y=10

∴16-8y+2y=10

∴-6y=-6

∴y=1

Substituting the value of y in (3.) ,

∴x=4-2y

∴x=4-2

∴x=2
