How to find formula of given compound if valence or electronic configuration is given?

U have to write the valency of ELEMENTS below them and by criss cross method u can find the formula of compound.

for EXAMPLE - to find formula of MAGNESIUM chloride.

valency of magnesium is +2 and valency of chlorine is -1

so we will write their valence below them

Mg Cl
2 1

so by criss cross method its formula will be MgCl2.
