The vacuoles are found in certain plant cells and unicellular organisms. They help in many ways; mainly in separating SUBSTANCES (e.g. substances meant for degradation, other chemicals, wastes ETC) from the rest of the cytoplasm. They also have enzymes to degrade infecting bacteria. The vacuoles have many other roles as well.
