Answer» Coal formed millions of years ago when the earth was COVERED with huge swampy forests where plants giant ferns, reeds and mosses - grew.Heat and pressure produced chemical and physical changes in the plant layers which FORCED out OXYGEN and left rich carbon deposits.the types of coal are1)Anthracite: It is the highest grade of coal containing a high percentage of fixed carbon. 2)Bituminous: It is a medium grade of coal having high HEATING capacity. 3)Subbituminous: It is black in colour, dull (not shiny) and has a higher heating value than lignite.4)Lignite: It is the lowest grade coal with the least carbon content. It is found in the regions of Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Jammu & KASHMIR. |
