Answer» In order to FIND the FOCAL length of a lens experimentally we have to use the UV method. The formula for focal length is the RATIO of product of UV to sum of UV. Where U is the object distance and V is the image distance. Take a candle and PLACE it 60cm away from a convex lens such that it lies ALONG the principal axis. Now the most important part is adjust the screen so that you can take the readings of image distance and object distance carefully. Finally after 3 to 4 readings you can find the focal length from the mean of the values.
