1.

How can excess fertilizers in ground water enter the food chain?

Answer»

Hey!!!!

This phenomenon is called Biomagnification or BIOLOGICAL magnification.

=> When fertilizers are USED in excess in ground water, the crops grown are CONSUMED by herbivores which are then ultimately eaten by carnivores.

=> Thus the toxic chemicals PASS on from one trophic level to other.

Thus they enter the FOOD chain

Hope this helps you
