Answer» Answer: alveoli are functional unit of lungs . they are the sac like structure that helps in exchange of gases. internally alveoli are lined with simple epithelial tissue or PAVEMENT epithelial tissue arranged like tiles. from this joining among several tiles like structure both o2 and co2 diffuse from HIGHER to lower concentration of eachother ( concentration of o2 is less in the body so it diffuses inside pavement epithelium and concentration of co2 is more at inner body so they diffuse toward lungs)and exange of gases takes place.. the diffused oxygen reaches body parts by the combination with haemoglobin in form of oxyhaemoglobin ( hb2o) but at MAXIMUM levek 1 haemoglinin can combine with 4 oxygen atom. i.e( hb(4)o2)which decompose inside body into oxygen molecule that is utilized in our body by tissue and BLOOD returns to lung by carrying oxygen PRODUCED in our body. hence this process continuous several times |
