Answer» IUPAC stand for International union of pure and applied chemistry. The IUPAC nomencluture was first given in the year of 1958.That name the carbon compounds by adding suffix and preffix.The number of carbon atoms these words are added as prefix:1=meth2=eth3=prop4=but5=pent6=hex7=hept8=oct9=non10=dec The suffix is added according to functional group such as :1.alkane-ane 2.alkene-ene 3.alkyne-yne4.alkyl-yl5.alchol-ol6.ketone-one7.aldehyde-al8.carboxylic acid-oic acid9.haloalkane-bromo, chloro ,etc I wanna know in detail about IUPAC nomenclature..So plz tell me..
