1.

Give the relationship between the wavelength of light and its angle of deviation, when it is passed through a prism.

Answer»

Let,

A = angle of prism

D= angle of deviation

N = refractive index

λvacuum = wavelength in vacuum

λmedium = wavelength in medium

We know

n = \(\frac{sin(\frac{A\,+\,D}{2})}{sin(\frac{A}{2})}\)

n = λvacuum medium

so,

λmediumvacuum \(\frac{sin(\frac{A}{2})}{{sin(\frac{A\,+\,D}{2})}{}}\)
