Give a brief introduction of Homerule Movement.

Answer» Homerule movement was a movement for spread of intelligence. Its objective was to obtain self rule under the British Empire through constitutional procedure. Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Annie Besant ran a movement for attaining self rule. In 1914 CE, Bal Gangadhar Tilak was released from jail and came out.

Tilak wished to re – enter the congress and ran the selfrule movement; but the congress leadership was not in favour of running a movement at that time. On 28th April 1916 CE, Tilak’established The ‘Indian Home Rule League’ in Poona.a
