Find the zeroes of p(x)=(x-1)³(2x+5)

Answer»

The answer is given below :

The given function or polynomial is

p(X)=(x-1)³ (2x+5)

= (x-1) (x-1) (x-1) (2x+5)

ZEROS OF A POLYNOMIAL :

The value of x for which the given polynomial will be valuing zero (0) is called the zero of the polynomial.

In this case, to FIND the zeroes, we must have

p(x) = 0

⇒ (x-1) (x-1) (x-1) (2x+5) = 0

So, we have

x - 1 = 0

⇒ x = 1

and

2x + 5 = 0

⇒ 2x = -5

⇒ x = -5/2

Therefore, the zeroes of the given polynomial are
x = 1, 1, 1, -5/2
