4x + ky + 8 = 0

2x + 2y + 2 = 0

Multiplying eq2 by 2 and subtracting from eq1

⇒ (k – 4)y + 6 = 0

⇒ y = 6/(4 – k)

Thus, for k ≠ 4 it has a unique solution
