Answer» Variable number of tandem repeats belong to the class of satellite DNA referred to as mini satellite. The number of repeats shows very high degree of polymorphism as a result the size of VNTR varies. After hybridisation of DNA sample with VNTR probe, an autoradiogram developed which gives many bands give the characteristic pattern of an individual DNA.
