Explain the ways in which glucose is broken down in the absence or shortage of oxygen |
|
Answer» In the absence of oxygen When breakdown of glucose is carried out in the absence of oxygen in a cell, it is called as anaerobic respiration. This process is called as fermentation in microbes. Ethyl alcohol or lactic acid is produced by the breakdown of pyruvate. The glucose is broken into 2 ATp molecules in an anaerobic respiration. |
