For the help of tourists-front office manager, lobby manager, guest relation executive, housekeeping executive, floor supervisor, lineman-cum-supervisor, executive chef, kitchen stewarding manager are allotted. Employment opportunities are available in areas like a tourist guide, travel agent and translators. Following points can elaborate on the unlimited employment opportunities that exist in the tourism industry – 1. Hotel Management – The success of the hotel business, which creates very extensive employment opportunities, depends upon effective and scientific management. This is why the demand for professional and trained employees is increasing each day. 2. Tourist Guide – A tourist guide is a person who provides assistance, information on cultural and historical events and for other help to the tourists. Employment opportunities are increasing considerably in this area. In the tourist season, the income of guides can be up to 1000 – 2000 each day (October-March). For this, knowledge of local geography, history and additionally English and French languages makes one proficient for the job. This is independent employment requiring only individual skill and no capital. 3. Travel Agent: The tourists want to tour more places at the least time to gain multiple experiences. This is why he/she needs a convenient transport facility. Which transport will be more suitable at different places, deciding this and arranging for this, making booking/ arrangements, are functions which the tourists get done by experienced and prestigious persons or agency, so that travel can be speedy and comfortable. There are two kinds of employment opportunities in this field, first, as an agent, and second, attaching own vehicle in the tourism sector. 4. Translators – The government or business class employs translators for speaking to such visitors who come for other purposes than tourism i.e. for business or diplomacy. For this position, language skills and the knowledge or vocabulary used in certain regions should be known. |
