Answer» tation :when the heavier component in a mixture settles after water is added to it, the process is called Sedimentation. Decantation : when water(along with the dust) is removed, the process is called Decantation. If a mixture of such liquids is allowed to STAND for some time, they form two separate layers.example --sand and SILT can be carried in suspension in river water and on REACHING the sea bed DEPOSITED by sedimentation. example -- in red wine, where the wine is decanted from the potassium bitartrate CRYSTALS to avoid unsavory taste. |
