He tried his best to please her by his patience and good manners. Explanation : At the same time the writer saw that the head teacher was admitting other students who were not better than he in his own opinion. Seeing this he became restless but did not lose heart. He was confident that he would prove himself a more worthy student than others only if he got a chance. So he waited for his turn patiently for some time and ultimately got a chance.
