Answer» This means that nature(sea) is immortal and doesn\'t change over period of time. But human life change as it is mortal These lines r simply used to draw comparison between the sea ( remains unchanged or changed by little amount ) and the young girls\' feet ( short by then and now grown ) The poet calls their feet ‘terrible transient’ as they were so young by then and now they had grown older. On the other hand, the sea which touched their feet has changed less. |
