Answer» Solar electric systems use solar CELLS to convert the Sun's radiant energy into electricity. This is done using a principle known as the photovoltaic effect. Since a solar cell only GENERATES about 1-2 Watts of power, it is necessary to combine them into solar power panels in ORDER to generate more power. There are lots of ways we use solar energy. We can harness the sun's energy by using solar collectors. These collectors enable US to use the heat from the sun to warm our homes and heat our water. They can be installed anywhere the sun shines but are usually installed on ROOFS for maximum sun exposure. |
