Substances that are removed during the process of drinking water treatment includesuspended solids,bacteria,algae,viruses,fungi, andmineralssuch asironandmanganese.

The processes involved in removing the contaminants include physical processes such assettlingandfiltration,chemical processessuch asdisinfectionandcoagulationand biological processes such asslow sand filtration.
