Explain 2 imp factors that shaped indian politics towards 1920 |
| Answer» The following were the two factors that shaped Indian politics towards the late 1920s:The first was the effect of the economic depression worldwide. It led to a fall in agricultural prices from 1926 and their collapse in 1930. Demand for agricultural goods fell and exports declined. Peasants could not find buyers for their produce and pay their revenue. The British government decided to constitute a statutory commission under Sir John Simon to look into the functioning of the constitutional system in India nad suggest changes. Since, the Commission did not have a single Indian member, it added to a volatile political atmosphere and caused widespread opposition. The Round table Conference of 1929 only offered dominion status which led to assertive posture by radicals within Congress. | |
