Answer» In living organisms,respiration occurs at two levels; at the body level and at the cellular level.In case of the respiration occuring at the body level , oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged between the body and the surrounding . Anaerobic respiration involves only two steps : glycolysis and fermentation. Respirationis theprocessof releasing energy through the breakdown of nutrients such as glucose.Respiration canbe aerobic (uses oxygen) or anaerobic (doesnot use oxygen). Aerobicrespiration takes place continuously in bothplantsandanimals. Itoccursthrough aprocessknown as cellularrespiration. |
