Well now that we're into rainy season I thought I'd write up a comparative list of the relative advantages and disadvantages to this for our readers who don't live in the tropics...
DISADVANTAGES:
ºThe swarms of flies and mosquitoes. ºThe more frequent power outtages. ºIt takes days for your freshly washed clothes to dry on the line. ºGetting caught outside in a downpour (THINK: you're standing under a waterfall. YES I know it rains where you live but, well, nevermind...just come down here and experience it for yourself...!). ºThe humidity! You can cut it with a machete. ºDirt roads turn into ponds, RIVERS and/or SWAMPS. See my 4-Wheelin' It entry from last June. ºWhen the ROOF leaks (think: you're in a hit sub). ºOutbreaks of malaria, dengue, and dysentery. ºDid I mention the swarms of flies & mosquitoes???
ADVANTAGES:
ºEverything is green and lush and tropical. ºThe SOOTHING sound of rain pattering on a tin roof when it's falling lightly. ºMangoes are in season. ºFree carwashes.
