QUESTION. :

Divide ₹100 into TWO PARTS such that ⅓rd of the first and ½ of the second are equal

Answer :

\sf\purple{Given}

  • Let ONE part be x .

  • Therefore other part = 100 - x.

By the given condition ,

⅓× x = ½ ( 100 - x)

\longrightarrow\sf{x/3 = 100/2 - x/2}

\longrightarrow\sf{x/3 = 100-x/2}

\longrightarrow\sf{x×2/3= 100-x}

\longrightarrow\sf{2x/3= 100-x}

\longrightarrow\sf{2x= 3(100-x)}

\longrightarrow\sf{2x= 300- 3x}

\longrightarrow\sf{2x + 3x =  300}

\longrightarrow\sf{5x =  300}

\longrightarrow\sf{x =  300/5}

\longrightarrow\sf\pink{x =  60 }

  • Therefore first part is x that is 60

  • Therefore second part is 100 - x

\longrightarrow\sf{100-60}

\longrightarrow\sf\pink{40}

  • Therefore the second part is 40
