Differnce between racemisation and resolution?

Answer»

Racemization is the PROCESS involved in the production of a racemate (An equimolar mixture of a pair of enantiomers (RS and SR), which does not EXHIBIT optical activity.) from a CHIRAL starting MATERIAL in which one enantiomer is present in EXCESS.

Chiral resolution or resolution in stereochemistry is a process for the separation of racemic compounds into their enantiomers or the separation of a racemate (An equimolar mixture of a pair of enantiomers (RS and SR), which does not exhibit optical activity.) into the component enantiomers.
