differentiate between saturated solution and colloid on the basis of three factors like tyndall effect and stability and mixture |
|
Answer» A colloid is an intermediate state of true SOLUTION and suspension. A colloid is a homogeneous system in which one substance is DISPERSED (known as dispersed phase) as very fine particles in other substance called the dispersed medium.Example - Milk in water. Here, milk is the dispersed phase where as the water is dispersed medium.A saturated solution consist of high concentration of SOLUTE mixed in solvent.Example - Salt water. Here, salt is solute and water is the solvent. The difference between these two acccording the factors like tyndall effect, stability and mixture.A colloid is able to CREATE TYNDAL effect because of the presence of big particles like proteins and fats, on the other side saturated solution cannot produce tyndall effect. Both of them are stable because the particles do not get settled down.A saturated solution can be said as mixture because of high concentration of solute and because it is heterogeneous, on the other side a colloid is not a mixture because it is homogeneous. |
