Legislative Assembly

  1. Legislative Assembly is also called the Lower House or Vidhan Sabha.
  2. Its term is of 5 years after which it gets dissolved.

Legislative Council

  1. It is also called the Upper House or Vidhan Parishad.

  3. Its members get elected for a term of 6 years
  4. Its 1/3rd members retire every 2 years.
  5. To become a member, the candidate must have minimum age of 30 years.
  6. Gujarat does not have Vidhan Parishad and so there is no question of number of members.
