Differentiate between centrosome and chromosome . |
|
Answer» Answer: It is the difference between a lawn and grass. A chromosome is a discrete unit, MUCH as a lawn typically is. Chromatin is the stuff that makes up a chromosome, like the grass in a lawn. More specifically, a chromosome contains a single piece of DNA. A VERY long piece of DNA, but a single piece nonetheless. Bound to that piece of DNA are a range of PROTEINS that are responsible for the shape of the DNA, the packing of the DNA into a small area, and the regulation of the genes on the DNA. We CALL that MIX of DNA and proteins chromatin. DNA is not FOUND naked in a cell, it is always found in the context of its chromatin. Explanation: |
