Difference between wet chemical and sol gel method

Answer»
There is a difference between sol-gel and wet-precipitation method even the raw materials are the same. In sol-gel method, you do not need to precipitate the sample (after mixing), HOWEVER, in wet-precipitation method, you need to treat the mixtures by STIRRING with magnetic stir bar and AGEING for 24 h at room temperature. The supernant was decanted. The precipitate was subjected to vacuum filtering using filter paper ADAPTED in a Büchner funnel and so on. Then, the precipitates were DRIED in certain period of time. In addition, sol-gel method gives a better result, such as particle size, less agglomerated sample and etc.
