Difference between square of 2 number is equal to 95 sum of 2 number is 19 find difference between 2 number

Answer»

Given:

Difference of square of TWO numbers = 95

Sum of two numbers(same numbers) = 19

To Find:

Diference between the numbers

Answer:

Explanation:

Let the two numbers be x and y respectively.

ATQ,

{x}^{2} - {y}^{2} = 95.......(1)

and

x + y = 19 .........(2)

We know that,

{x}^{2} - {y}^{2} = (x +y)(x - y)

ALSO ,

In the question (x+y) i.e. sum of the numbers is given .

So, we can substitute the value of (x+y) to find the value of (x-y) i.e. difference of the two numbers

Substituting the values, we get:

19 \times (x - y) = 95

Dividing both sides by 19, we get:

(x - y) =  \frac{95}{19}

(x-y) = 5

Therefore , the difference between the numbers is 5.

Answer is 5.

Other Formulas

1) \: {x}^{3} + {y}^{3} = (x + y)( {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} - xy)

2) \: {x}^{3} - {y}^{3} = (x - y)( {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} + xy)

3) \: {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} = (x - y)^{2} + 2xy \: or \: (x + y)^{2} - 2xy

4) \: (x + y)^{2} = {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} + 2xy

5) \: (x - y)^{2} = {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} - 2xy
