Difference between scartring of light and dipersion of light? |
|
Answer» Dispersion: The phenomenon of splitting a ray of white light into its constituent colours (i.e violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red) is called dispersion.Different colours undergo different deviations on passing through a prism. The red light bends the least, and the violet light bends the most.Scattering: The phenomenon in which a part of the light incident on a particle is redirected in different directions is called the scattering of light. The blue colur of the sky, the colour of water in the deep sea and the reddening of the Sun during sunrise or sunset are some examples of daily life which occur due to scattering. Dispersion of light means splitting of white lights into its 7 constituents units whereas scattering of light is the deviation of light rays from its straight path. |
