Describe structure of connective tissues

Answer»

Answer:

  • A connective tissue is MADE up of three components: matrix, cells and fibres.
  • The matrix is mainly a mixture of modified POLYSACCHARIDES and proteins, which are secreted by the component cells of the tissue.
  • Different types of cells such as fibroblasts, mast cells, adipose cells etc. occur in the matrix.
  • In all connective tissues EXCEPT blood, the cells secrete fibres made of collagen or elastin PROTEIN.
  • These fibres provide strength, elasticity and flexibility to the tissue.
