They produce useful biological compounds created by introducing a portion of the DNA that code for the products. eg: a-1 antitrypsin is produced for treating emphysema They are being developed to test the safety vaccines, eg: Polio vaccines has been tested on mice Transgenic animals with more sensitivity to toxic substance are being developed to the test the toxicity of drugs.
