Answer» The Himalayas were formed by the following—~Peninsula part of gondwana land was the oldest landmass.~It included India, South Africa, Australia, South America as a single land mass.~There was mud larger Eurasian plate in the north.~Convectional currents in the crust split it into several plates.~In between gondwana and Eurasian plate, there was a narrow elongated trough called the Tethyasea. It was field with sedimentary rocks.~Due to collision, the sedimentary rocks accumulated in the geosyncline of the tethys. Then it got folder and uplifted.~The uplifted folds incourse of time assumed the stature of the Himalayas and the west Asian mountain system.
