It is denoted by x̄w. Suppose the weights assigned to observations x₁, x₂,…. x_n are respectively w₁, w₂, …, w_n then weighted mean x̄_w = \(\frac{w_1x_1+w_2x_2+…+w_nx_n}{w_1+w_2+…+w_n}\) = \(\frac{Σwx}{Σw}\)
