It is well known that POTASSIUM chloratedecomposes at a HIGHER temperature to give potassium chloride and oxygen. It MELTS at 355 °C and decomposes at 480 °C (Fig. 1). To reduce thedecomposition temperature, MANGANESE dioxide is the standard catalyst. The search for more efficient and cheap catalyst is on.
