(b) The Edicts of Ashoka (Ashokan inscription) are a collection of 33 inscriptions on the Pillars of Ashoka, as boulders and cave walls, made by the Emperor Ashoka of the Maurayan dynasty during his region 269 BC to 231 BC. These inscriptions are dispersed throughout the areas of modern day Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan. In the Ashoka inscriptions there were three south Indian states cholas, Pandayas and cheras was in existence.
