Answer» Hydrogen and alkali metals are similar to each other because they both form monopositive IONS and LIE in same group 1st. But hydrogen differs from alkali metals in the WAY as- 1. all alkali metals have neutrons in their NUCLEUS but hydrogen does not have any neutron. 2. the electronegativity of hydrogen is much greater than alkali metals. 3. hydrogen can combine with both metals and non metals whereas alkali metals generally combine with non metals. 4. hydrogen is a non metal but rest MEMBERS of group 1 are metals. 5. hydrogen can form both ionic as well as covalent bonds but alkali metals form ionic bonds only.
