Compare discontinuous and semi discontinuous mode of replication |
|
Answer» Semi-DISCONTINUOUS nature of replication is attributed to the fact that one strand is replicated CONTINUOUSLY whereas the other strand in discontinuous fashion. The continuous synthesis here means that the replication only needs one primer, and the replication occurs till the termination site. This strand is CALLED Leading strand. On the counterpart, the discontinuous strand, also called Lagging strand, will have the formation of Okazaki fragments. |
