Answer :CARBONATE ORES are decomposed to the oxide by CALCINATION. But sulphide ores are to be oxidised to metal oxide and `SO_2` be heting to HIGH TEMPERATURE with excess of air. This is known as roasting. Oxygen containing ores are subjected to calcination.
