Carbon could lose 4 electrons forming C4+ cation. but it would require large amount of energy to remove four electrons leaving behimd a carbon cation with six protons in its nucleus holding on to just two electrons....can anyone clearly explain me about this and also wt that 6 protons means |

Answer» The ATOMIC no of carbon.-6 Electronic configuration-K -L 2 -4 To become octect or stable carbon can lose 4 ELECTRONS so it will contain only 2 electrons in the k shell and bacome stable. But the no of proton is 6. No of proton=No of electron No of electron is6. But to remove 4 electrons require a large amount of energy. But many compounds loses 2 or 3 electrons whis do not require much energy. 6 proton whis is in the nucleus attracts the 6 electron towards the nucleus. When carbon loses 4 electrons this 6 protons need to attract 2 electrons.which will make the 2 electrons taking into the nucleus. HOPE IT HELPS YOU..... |
