Can potassium bicarbonate be used as an antacid?(a) Yes(b) No(c) Maybe(d) May not beI got this question in semester exam.Question is from s-Block Elements topic in portion s-Block Elements of Chemistry – Class 11

Answer»

Right option is (a) Yes

The best I can explain: Potassium carbonate can be used instead of sodium carbonate as an antacid, in case if the PERSON who has to CONSUME antacid is restricted to consume sodium. This is because Sodium and potassium belong to the same group and have SIMILAR properties.
