(c) Some identical cards are numbered from 2 to 25 and well shuffled. When a card is drawn randomly, what is the probability that the card has:(i) a prime number(ii) a multiple of 2 and 3(iii) not a multiple of 7.(iv) a perfect cube number.

Answer»

Answer:

(I) PRIME numbers between 2 and 25 are

2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23 i.e a total of 9 prime numbers

therefore the probability of GETTING a prime number = 9/24

(ii) a multiple of 2 and 3 is actualy a multiple of 6 therefore there are 6,12,18,24 i.e a total of 4 such numbers.

so probability=4/24=1/6

(iii)there are 3 MULTIPLES of 7 therefore there are are 21 which are not

so probability=21/24

(IV) there is only one perfect cube which is 8

so probability=1/24
