Mutiply eq(1) by 2 and eq(2) by 5 and then subtract

We get,16x + 10y = 1815x + 10y = 20

x = - 2

Put value of x = - 2 in eq(1)8*-2 + 5y = 9-16 + 5y = 95y = 25y = 25/5 = 5

Therefore x = - 2, y = 5
